Reflections on Homeownership, Money & Life Lessons | Girlboss Bible Podcast

Introduction

In this Christmas episode of the Girlboss Bible podcast, I sat down to reflect on some of the biggest lessons from the past year — from homeownership and saving money to financial literacy, self-worth, and personal growth.

With a festive drink in hand and no pressure to be polished, this episode was all about honest conversations. If you’re navigating buying a house, learning how credit works, or simply trying to feel less behind in life, this one was for you.

A Christmas Reflection on Life & Growth

We opened the episode in full Christmas mode — relaxed, reflective, and looking back on the year that was. End-of-year conversations have a way of bringing clarity, and this chat was no different.

We talked about the lessons that only come from lived experience — the mistakes, the wins, and the things we wish we’d known sooner. It set the tone for a real discussion about money, homes, and growing up.

My Homeownership Journey

One of the main topics we explored was homeownership — specifically my experience selling a house that held so many memories. It wasn’t just a property; it was the place where life happened.

From hosting parties to navigating lockdowns during the pandemic, that house marked a huge chapter of my life. Selling it was emotional, and it reminded me how deeply tied our homes are to our identity and growth. Buying — and eventually selling — a home isn’t just a financial decision; it’s a personal one.

Saving for a House: What I Wish I Knew Sooner

Saving for a house can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re constantly seeing headlines about rising prices. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned — and shared on the podcast — is the importance of starting early, even if it’s just a small amount.

I also spoke about using a Help to Buy scheme, which allowed me to purchase my home with a much smaller deposit than I expected. If you’re a first-time buyer, there are options available — and you don’t need to have everything perfectly figured out to begin.

Financial Literacy, Credit Cards & Credit Scores

We then got into financial literacy — particularly credit cards and credit scores, which so many of us were never properly taught about. I was honest about my own misunderstandings around interest and debt, and how common that is.

If buying a house is on your radar, understanding credit is essential. My advice? Keep it simple. Stick to one credit card, only spend what you can pay back, and be intentional. Financial education is one of the most powerful tools you can give yourself.

Body Image, Self-Acceptance & Life Regrets

Beyond money, we also reflected on personal growth — especially body image and the pressure we put on ourselves when we’re younger. Looking back, there are things I wish I’d stressed less about and moments I wish I’d enjoyed more.

We talked about self-acceptance, lifestyle choices, and learning to view past decisions with compassion instead of judgment. Growth doesn’t come from regret — it comes from reflection.

Final Thoughts: Growth Isn’t Linear

This episode was a reminder that success — whether financial, emotional, or personal — is never a straight line. Homeownership, saving money, learning financial literacy, and building confidence all take time.

If there’s one message I want you to take away, it’s this: start where you are, learn as you go, and be kind to yourself along the way. Every chapter — even the messy ones — is shaping you into who you’re becoming.
